Program Director Notes

On these pages I’ve highlighted the great job being done by our various Progrm Directors, but I’ve overlooked the important programs put together by our Lecturer – John James. This past week some 75+ Knights, Ladies and parishioners heard of the horrors of both Russian & German concentration camps in WW II from a former prisoner – Mr. Mike Lindner. Kudo’s to Br. James.

Valentines Day Family Dance a Rousing Success

Family Director, John Pantaleo, thought it would be a good idea to have an old fashion 50′s Style Dance for Valentine’s Day. On Feb. 11th. the dance was held and some 40+ couple’s relived the music and dances of their youth. To renew old skills the Fred Astaire Studies provided some vigorous dance lessons and light Hors D’oeuvres (provided by our wonderful ladies) fed the tired dancers. A new rousing activity!!!!

Forty Cans For Lent

All brother Knights are urged to participate in a nation wide food drive during the Lenten Season. To take part in this food campaign, simply drop off can goods in the Church gathering areas at the Mass you attend on Saturday or Sunday during Lent. One can for each day of Lent, begining with Ash Wednesday is the suggested goal. However if this is not feasible following our very successful food drive for San Juan Diego parish, any contribution will be greatly appreciated. All donations will be taken to the Sandhills Coalition or the Aberdeen Food Bank for distribution to those most in need. The need is real. Many people are facing food shortages during this difficult time. We can help carry our Lord’s cross by helping bear one another’s burdens.
Thanks, Walt Scheyett

A THOUGHT FOR THE CHRISTMAS SEASON

If you feel as I do, that we are losing the true meaning of Christmas, what with the hectic whirl of shopping, decorating and parties, perhaps you might consider doing what my wife and I are doing this year. In our small effort to keep Christ in Christmas, we are foregoing purchasing each other a  Christmas gift, and instead using that money to support our seminarians and priests. If you feel you would like to do the same, and this is a personal decision, the seminarians we support are: Deacon Don Maloney, Nick Cottrill, Edisson Urrego, Phil List, Michael Schuetz, and Philip Johnson. Their address is: St Charles Borromeo Seminary, 100 E. Wynnewood Rd., Wynnewood PA 19096. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Walt Scheyett
